Thomas Coates.Born 1941, studied at Bournville College of Art, Birmingham College of Art and the Royal Academy Schools between 1956 and 1964. He works in the spontaneous, English figurative tradition in pastel, oil and watercolour. A Member of the Royal Watercolour Society, the New English Art Club, and Past President of the Royal Society of British Artists, Tom Coates was elected as the ninth President of the Pastel Society in 1993.
