Sarah CAMERON

Both Sarah's father and uncle, Roger and Roy Cameron, painted professionally, and Sarah followed in their footsteps by attending Edinburgh College of Art and being represented in their notable collection.

She began painting at the age of 15, and in 2003 graduated from Edinburgh College of Art. For the first couple of years she supplemented her income by teaching art privately in Edinburgh but now is painting full-time and in 2007 will be
teaching a course in Greece 'Painting the Mediterranean Landscape'.

Since leaving Edinburgh College of Art she has developed her work along lines that have always facinated her. "I have been strongly influenced by Edvard Munch and the German Expressionist, Emil Nolde; in particular,by the stormy seascapes that he did from an isolated fisherman's cottage on the island of Alsen. This has been an inspiration for me, however I base most of my own work on places of particular natural beauty in Scotland. By abstracting images from memory - I try to evoke memories of atmosphere and emotion in the viewer, rather than recreate actual scenes".

This artist will proceed to make a name for herself, she has that determined quality which will stand her in good stead. In addition it is remarkable how she is able to concentrate upon the theme of stormy water, conveying that great sense of understanding the process, and not leaving it half way through.
