SARA TANGYE LEAN

SARA TANGYE LEAN
"Apart from her portraits, landscapes and nude studies, Sara has painted flowers all her life. With her focus on this subject, a private visual language has developed. These are flowers whose obsessional dramatisation is something that we have never encountered before in quite this form. This is a world where flowers have become metaphors for emotional states: benign and peaceable, ecstatic and yearning, savage and bleak.

As subsidiary obsession of the artist is pansies, VIOLA TRICOLOR,. Its infinite colour variety, in both its wild and cultivated form, offer the prospect of unending exploration. Sara has painted a considerable series of single blooms. Each is a portrait, taken from the notoriously brief life of the picked flower. They are both celebratory colour studies and attempts to capture the evanescent."
WE welcome the addition of this artist to our portfolio and fully expect that some of our collectors will add her work to their portfolios.
