Philip DIGGLE
Philip Diggle's canvases are 'art with attitude', visual and tactile; an explosion of colour, unique, erratic and responsive. They quite literally feel alive with the layers and layers of paint offering a spectacular visual experience.
A Mancunian by birth Diggle graduated from Hull University with a degree in Fine Art. He now lives and paints in Highgate and is Head of Art at an Islington secondary school.
During the late 70's and 80's Philip painted in response to his 'world', becoming reknowned for his love of ideas, in particular all things existentialist and the anger this created! hence his natural affliation with the Punk movement culminating in his famous 'gigs' where he painted on stage.
Diggles work now hangs in prominent collections such as Chase Manhattan Bank and the Rockerfeller Centre N.Y., as well as many private collections and boardrooms around the world.
We are delighted to be able to exhibit his work here in Highgate.
