PAUL DEMARIA
Welcome
to PAUL DEMARIA - Venice and other paintings 2007
Paul writes ... "While working I use what I most like or may be useful: impressionism, French or Italian; English and Dutch landscape traditions just to mention a few. Also expressionist elements and some more recent texture experiments to complete the experience of a day.
I have been described as “Classical”, but I know that direct relation with the subject a modern colour sensitivity, and the inevitable changes in landscape, produce a mirrored reality that reflects our time. It is good to know this appreciation is now in many countries."
Paul's vibrant collection of Venetian and other paintings shows how an artist can rise to the occasion. When we suggested that he should have this show alongside 'A Tribute' to his father, master painter BRUNO GUAITAMACCHI, who died in 2005, his response was totally positive.
He immediately embarked on a series of trips to Venice, resulting in this superb exhibition.
As a result of advice received from Bruno,he has kept his individual approach. His preference for plein air painting and panoramic vistas has created his distinctive style and his work is now in many eminent collections worldwide. We are sure that a number of these beautiful paintings will quickly find new homes.
