Nick AMEY

Born 1966 in Gosport, Hampshire. His family moved to Kent when he was ten years old. Growing up in the 'Garden of England' helped to shape his artistic development.
Whilst training as a landscape designer in Kent he soon assimilated an informed understanding of the elements that give the English countryside and coast its unique and compelling atmosphere.
Many of the paintings attempt to capture that brief moment of time when a scene is first encountered and the equally brief sensation, almost of discovery, is felt.
Others explore particular views of features or objects that may otherwise have gone un-noticed. The works reveal his deep love of the countryside and the English tradition of Romantic landscape painting - Cotman, Palmer, Nash, Spencer, Sutherland and Inshaw have all influenced his work.
