John BOURNE

Born in 1946 in Newcastle, Staffs. John Bourne qualified as an Art teacher after spending three and a half years at St Mary's College,Strawberry Hill. He has been painting ever since.

Many of John's paintings are composites incorporating a variety of specifically collected images to make up the single painting. He uses photography to initally collect material whether it be landscapes or groups of domestic and everyday objects. John studies the details of plant forms, stones, rusty metals and works these into his paintings.

He is interested also in the human contribution to our landscape, in particular changes brought about by agriculture, industry and urban development.

All john's paintings are acrylic on wood. His work suits the rapid drying quality of acrylic combined with the texture and firm surface of the wood.

John Bourn's work is striking and honest, rich in content and colour.
